In healthcare, there is zero tolerance for diagnostic ambiguity. A diagnostic imaging scanner must deliver consistent, millimeter-precise clinical data whether scanning its 1st patient or its 10,000th patient.
At Elixmed Healthcare, our reputation is built upon engineering discipline. In this behind-the-scenes article, we walk you through our multi-stage refurbishment, recalibration, and Quality Assurance (QA) protocol conducted inside our Gujarat Engineering Hub.
1. Stage 1: De-Installation & Global Sourcing Audit
Quality starts at sourcing. We do not acquire end-of-life or damaged modalities from auctions. Every machine in our inventory is selectively procured from accredited private clinics and university hospitals across Western Europe, Japan, and the United States with complete service logs and documented maintenance histories.
Our factory-trained engineers conduct a comprehensive on-site pre-deinstallation audit, recording baseline SNR, mechanical backlash, cryogenic levels, and software licensing before carefully packing the modality in climate-controlled export crates.
2. Stage 2: Mechanical Teardown & Chemical Rejuvenation
Patient tables, gantry bearings, slip rings, rotor brakes, and motorized drives are stripped, cleaned in ultrasonic baths, and re-lubricated with high-temperature aerospace-grade greases.
All gantry cowlings and covers undergo bodywork repair and multi-stage polyurethane painting, delivering a high-durability, scratch-resistant medical finish that withstands hospital disinfectant wipes.
3. Stage 3: Cryogenic & Vacuum Reconditioning (For MRI)
Superconducting magnets rely on an ultra-high vacuum insulating blanket (cryostat). Over years, minute outgassing degrades this vacuum, causing helium boil-off. In our engineering bay, we connect high-vacuum turbomolecular pumps and heating blankets to bake out contaminants, restoring the vacuum to less than 10⁻⁵ mbar.
Sumitomo and Leybold cold heads are rebuilt or replaced with genuine factory parts, and helium compressors undergo oil and adsorber renewal, restoring zero helium boil-off operation.
4. Stage 4: 72-Hour Full-Load Clinical Simulation
The system is connected to our dedicated 3-phase test grid and subjected to 72 hours of back-to-back high-gradient imaging sequences to test thermal stability, power supply regulation, and detector heat dissipation.
We perform automated phantom scans measuring slice thickness accuracy, high-contrast spatial resolution, low-contrast detectability, geometric distortion, and signal uniformity.
The Elixmed QA Certificate Guarantee
Every modality delivered to a customer is accompanied by a formal QA report with raw phantom image datasets, proving that every diagnostic parameter meets or exceeds original OEM factory specifications.
Our senior field engineers remain on site post-installation to assist clinical staff during the first 50 patient scans.
